Why visit Dali en route to Lijiang
Dali has its own tourist attraction that you cannot find in Kunming or Lijiang. Traveling around Dali, Yunnan, China won’t cost too much money from your budget.
From Kunming, instead of taking a commercial flight, we booked a sleeper train to Dali. The fare is way cheaper and you can save money from spending one night in a hotel.
Four of us arrived in Dali at 5 in the morning, we bargained a taxi for 30 CNY from the railway station to our hotel near the ancient village.
Our next train trip to Lijiang will be 3 o’clock tomorrow afternoon, basically, we only have 1 day to explore Dali, here’s how we did it.
Explored Dali for just around 100 CNY per person
At the hotel, since the owner has a car, we decided to ask him to drive us in major tourist attraction of Dali. Our trip went smooth and hassle free, thanks to Mr. Xi for becoming our driver, hotelier and tour guide.

The next morning, he brought us to a famous restaurant and suggested local food of Dali. He also drove us back to the railway station to continue our trip to Lijiang.
