November 23, 2016, Cebu Pacific started flying between Manila and Caticlan using Airbus 320 aircraft allowing the airline to bring more passengers to Caticlan Airport. Prior to runway expansion, only small propeller aircraft like ATRs and Q300 can land in Caticlan Airport.
Right now, Cebu Pacific flies A320s three times daily. Passengers of this flight won’t need to travel for two hours just to reach Caticlan from Kalibo Airport which before, the only gateway that can accommodate larger aircraft such as A320 or B737.
The newly expanded airport is also connected to a jetty port allowing tourist to hop into Boracay Island with just a few steps from the airport’s terminal.
The airport management is yet to announce about flights coming from South Korea, Japan, Malaysia and China.
