Applying Tourist Visa Japan The Philippines Visa Requirements

Appeal your denied Japan Tourist Visa

Frequent questions and answers to denied visa applicants.

You can go to Japan Immigration Department to lodge an appeal. You will need to write the reasons why your case needs to be heard and provide pieces of evidence that support your explanation letter.

The immigration officers will review your evidence and decide whether your application should be heard and go on back to the normal process.

Note that you can only lodge an appeal if your visa application was applied onshore. Tourist visas in most cases cannot lodge an appeal but you can reapply after six months.

1. What will happen if I reapply within the six-month period from the time it was rejected?
According to Japan’s Foreign Affair’s website, your visa will be denied if your previous visa application was rejected and you reapply to visit Japan for the same purpose within six months from the rejection. This is because the circumstances of the applicant would not change and that the result of examination would be the same.

2. Can I apply within six months from the rejection but with a different purpose?
You can definitely apply again with different purpose. This time, make sure to submit proper documents to avoid visa denial. In most cases, denied applicants can still get a visa by applying a different purpose of travel such as with guarantor letter or travel for humanitarian reasons.

3. I applied for my visa in Dubai but was denied, can I reapply immediately or appeal to Japan Embassy in the Philippines?
According to Reli and Rajah Travel and Tours, Visa Policy will be the same, you won’t be able to appeal or reapply in the Philippines within six months from the date your visa is denied, whether it was applied in the Dubai, Riyadh or anywhere else.

Friendship Travel and Tours, in this case, accepted a refused application from overseas, got approved without waiting for 6 months. The agency also accepted an applicant who’s denied by Japan Embassy in Manila, by providing supporting documents, got approved without waiting for 6 months.

You may consult the nearest Embassy or Consulate if you think you need more detailed advice about your case. In the Philippines, you can visit the nearest accredited agencies where you plan to apply for the visa before making the application.

  • I will just share my another way of my visa approval in less than a month. The first Japan travel agency I submitted to did not allow my other documents but the second agency allowed these. I also submitted an appeal letter through the second agency. For a sample letter, you can visit the site through my username or send me a reply/comment.

      • Just search the keyword “japan visa denied reapply less than month” on Google or Bing for more detailed info and for sample appeal letter. Maybe you can search on his (Diamzon) site. In my case, I called the Japan embassy and explained about my problem on the first travel agency. After that, they suggested to reapply again (of course I chose another agency which is Friendship Tours and staff there are kind) but not guaranteed that we will be approved.

We reapplied with an appeal letter and some additional documents especially the ones that my first agency did not let me submit. Luckily, we were approved.

        • hi may I know the contact no. of japan embassy and where did you send the letter thru email? Thank you. I got my visa last Friday and unluckily I got denied I have other documents that my agency didn’t let me submit so i have strong feeling that, twas one of the reason why I got denied. please help me thanks.

        • How long did it take before the embassy replied your appeal letter???
I was denied because of my age, I then submitted an appeal, it’s more than a week now and I have not heard any news

    • Hi! I got rejected from my visa application to japan. I am a filipino and an ofw here in middle east and i applied here. I have submitted all my requirements and i got rejected. The saddest thing is all my bookings (hotel, themed parks and flight tickets) will just go to waste. Hope you can help. Thanks

      • Bro…. upon reading your comment, it made me worry. Are you an OFW on vacation during your visa application? We have purchased airline tickets and booked our hotel as well. We plan to apply for visa this January. We’ll be having our vacation on February 2018. We are currently working here in saudi. Are they strict in giving out tourist visas? What do you think is the reason why you got denied?

        • We applied Japan Visa here in UAE, Abu Dhabi, they need the form duly filled up, the photo, salary certificate, noc letter, the bank statement, atleast 3months salary must reflect in the bank statement, they are not strict in Middle East, but just be sure that your working visa is still valid, they will just check your strong ties with the country you’re at that you will really comeback to the country where u applied.

  • Hi mark,,

I need to know from you, One of my friend got japan visa for travel. It was an tourist visa. He went Japan. But japan immigration clearing officers has rejected his visa and he returned home. He was so disappointed. I just want to know can he apply his visa again? and can he visit japan again?

  • Hi Sir, Thank you on this, it is really helpful. Can I request of your copy of daily itinerary? I am having a hard time on this. Thank youu!!!

  • Im an OFW in KSA, I applied visa 1month ago and after waiting 4 weeks I got denied, Without any reason. Sad part is I was so confident that I will be granted Mutiple entry visa because I had been to Japan 4 years ago and i submitted my old Japan visa for visiting relatives. Now I applied for sightseeing but got rejected eventhough I submitted evidence of my travels to 13 European countries including UK France Germany Italy Netherlands Spain Belgium Austria Hungary Switzerland Denmark Czech Rep Slovakia, S.Korea HK, Singapore Turkey UAE USA (twice) and Australia. All for tourist and within last 3 years. I even submitted other supporting documents other than required. Never violated any law to any country. Had enough money in my account. Presented my business class ticket to Manila since i will be travelling via Manila. What went wrong? I have no idea. Also they put a stamp on my new passport evidence of visa refusal which will affect negative on my future visa application.

      • OFW’s in KSA requires Exit/ReEntry visa in order to exit and comeback to KSA after our trip, I submitted this along with copy of my Residence visa which is valid until 2021. I submitted my paid businessclass ticket (I’m flying to keep my Premier Elite Mabuhay Miles status) Riyadh-Manila and a dummy ticket MNL-NRT. My CoE shows my allowed leave and my employment validity. My last balance in my account is around 150k in peso. My US and Australia visas are still valid. most of my European trips are from last 3 years. I travel 3-4 times on holiday from KSA. What do u thick is wrong?

          • I reapplied at Japan Embassy Manila thru a travel agency and waiting for the result. “Japan visa relaxed for Filipinos” – NOT TRUE! “Good travel history to other G7 countries helpful”- NOT TRUE! as others get visa approved even first time traveling. “submitting complete set of documents doesn’t guarantee visa approval”- TRUE! “Having more than enough money in the bank helps”- NOT TRUE! as other even if their balance is just 10K gets approved. The decision is totally up to the Visa Officer at the Embassy which sometimes depends on his mode on a particular day and time. The agency warned me that I may get denied again as there’s newly assigned Consul at the Japan Embassy Manila and they are much more stricter now.

          • Just to update, I was denied visa last November in Riyadh but I reapplied at Japan Embassy Manila during my vacation in December via FriendshipTours Dusit Thani. Took only 2 working days to approve my visa. Was so happy that my winter plans will push through. Though the staff who checked my documents told me that there’s only 20% chance that my visa will be approved, i never loose hope that my travel history from the last 3 years to G7 countries (already traveled to 6 out of 7 G7 countries except Canada i will go by June 2018) will be strong enough to prove I’m a genuine tourist. Lesson learned from this experience, never give up if you believe that your visa is unfairly denied, reapply and fight for it.

          • A lot of people saying that agency it good. Some agencies won’t accept any application that had been denied in less than 6 months. I’d like to update this post because this experience is new. May I ask you denied stamp or sticker and your approved visa? and if possible can we have it posted as a featured image of this post? Here’s our email: support@enormacdigital.com, you may hide some details of your visa 🙂

            Thank you Cheeco!

      • Hello Mark,

It’s my daughter’s supposed 3rd travel back here within this year only and her ‘Visit Relatives’ visa application got denied today. I’m a long-term resident in Japan for 10 years and my kids have been consistently visiting me. We have everything planned for the holidays and our birthdays coming up and I deeply need your advise on what to do to appeal. It’s unacceptable that my daughter gets denied and I can’t think of a reason why it happened.

Hope to hear from you soon, Mark.

        • hello! mark, merry x’mas and advance prosperous new year..i was amazed and for the first time i’m one of them denied.. even i have a family to visit in japan for so many times…they are my daughter and son .i need to visit them since its too long we haven’t see each other again l’m so sad and longing for them..i’m thier mom..its hurts me so much that we live a miles away frm. each other. i can afford to travel as a tourist to visit them without the sponsorship of my ex hubby… since we divorced. pls. if you can help me or if you have some advice for me pls let me know in my email.add…

          • besides, i realized the documents he send to me is lacking bec..he sponsored me the supporting documents..so, i try to submit akl the req. in my own not from him or his not a guarantor or as a sponsor. my children can’t sponsor to me bec. .they are still independent they are not working yet. so i hope, you have some ideas to share to me and i so much appreciate it…thank you and God bless us all…and more power.

          • You can apply for Tourist visa right away, just make sure all documents were good to go, otherwise, you have to wait for another 6 months just to correct minor mistakes on your application.

    • Sir cheeco, i would like to know if you applied here in the japanese embassy in riyadh because i experienced the same issue but for me it was a first time application for a international tourist visa. Any updates sir? Did you appeal on the embassy regarding your situation?.

      • yes Glenn I applied at Japan Embassy Riyadh, they denied my visa after 4wks of waiting, i kept following up my case maybe they got irritated so they refused my visa. I reapplied now in Manila and waiting for result, hoping they approve it. P.S. when i applied visa at Japan Embassy Riyadh, at the same time I also applied visa online for Canada in Riyadh and submitted my passport at Canada Embassy Riyadh and got 5 years multiple entry visa, while Japan denied my visa.

      • hi Glenn, my visa application at Japan Embassy Manila was approved. Processing took 2 working days only from FriendshipTours at Dusit Thani Hotel.

    • Hi Cheeco. May I know if you have updates on your application like if you tried to appeal then granted a Japan visa already? Thanks in advance.
