The newly expanded runway can now accommodate bigger aircraft such as A320 and Boeing 737 which will bring more passengers to Boracay Island. The airport’s terminal is also connected to a new Jetty Port allowing tourists to hop into the island without going out of the airport’s vicinity.

San Miguel Corporation, the firm who initiated the airport expansion said they are also planning to build a bridge that connects Boracay Island to mainland Aklan.

November 23, 2016, Cebu Pacific started flying A320 in and out of Caticlan.
